Prunus Serotina

I collected this species because of the nice blossom-risps in spring.
Hopefully I will be able to show you some of these next year.
Prunus Serotina is a so called neophyt to a german (european) habitat.
The origin of this species is North America.
Because of its vigour and the strong urge to gain for light,
P. Serotina had managed to suppress P. Padus, the original inhabitant.

The tree is almost as high as wide as deep.
Well, a lot of carvingwork to do at the end of the season ...

Some new yamadories

In late spring this year, I did some yamadorising.
A Prunus Serotina, a big Fieldmaple and a mighty Wild-Cherry
had been on my shortlist.
I always wanted to have this species in my developing-programm.
Here are a few glimpses of the trees.
I will introduce them more detailed later on ...

visit_of_a_friend

This is Andrè (Andrew), he is a really nice guy and a wonderful yamadori-companion.
I am proud to say, that he is my bonsai-buddy and friend.
He made it possible for me to acquire a prunus mahaleb, a species wich can not be digged in my native country-side.
We are "brothers in mind" according to our bonsai-passion.
We both like big and characterful yamadori-trees.
Today we enjoyed a couple of houres together spending some time talking and
having a look at my old and new projects.

Interpretation of the fairy-tale-style (FTS)

Referring to the invention of Mr. Walter Pall, I tried myself in a bit different designing
of a linden-clump.
Well, this tree seems to be fairly ugly, some might say.
But (imho) the coating of time will create a more plausible creation.
Germany's oldest tree is a 1000-years old linden, consisting actually of the four last
remaining parts of the former trunc.
Decaying is part of life  ...

nice_years_upbeat

The first highlight of the bonsai-year is the journey  to noelanders trophy in belgium with my companiens.

Our annual getaway was a real fun.
Not only the experience of the terrific exhibition and traders area, but we had the great honor as well
to enjoy the gala-dinner with no one less than Walter Pall!
He is such an amusing colloquist with a sack full of anecdotes.
'Always great to be in his company ....

Winter Sale 2016

This winter I sold two trees.
And again it is very gratifying, that two very good bonsai-companions bought the trees.
I have often been asked why I am selling all those trees.
Well, the answer is qiute simple: I have got too many trees.
I mean too many to care for, since they are standing remotely from my flat.
I prefer to have a small amount of trees but different species and among them just my favorites.
A third linden (the five-trunker) is on sale this winter as well.
If this tree will not be sold soon, I will re-edit the design and keep it.
Let us see ...

And this one is on sale ... :

Tilia_2 update

And here an update as well.

- The tree looks almost overloaded by the amount of twigs.
- I have rarely seen such a number of buds on a tree .
- Sorry, in real life the tree is an absolut stunner.
- Of course there must be done some selectiv cuttings of branches and new shoots
- I think it was the right decision to cut away the lower branches
